Amnesty International has released satellite images showing the obliteration of a large settlement during last year's clearances in Zimbabwe that made 700,000 people homeless.
The graphic before and after shots released yesterday show the destruction of the Porta Farm settlement 20 kilometres west of Harare that was until last year home to up to 10,000 people.
Where once stood 850 structures including homes and schools is now scrub with only the outlines of the former streets.
"These images … are a graphic indictment of the Zimbabwe Government's policies. They show the horrifying transition of an area from a vibrant community to rubble and shrubs," the human rights group's Africa director, Kolawole Olaniyan, said.
