COLOMBO (Reuters) - Suspected Tamil Tiger rebels sank a government navy attack boat and attacked a troop transport vessel off Sri Lanka's northern tip, Nordic truce monitors said on Thursday, but there was no word on fatalities.

Military sources said the Air Force scrambled fighter jets and helicopter gunships to the area, which is around 30 miles

She said one of the government's Israeli-built fast attack boats had also been sunk. One sailor was wounded by gunfire, but Olafsdottir had no further details.
